Gender Equality Mission

The role of the Gender Equality Officer is to listen and inform students, raise their awareness of power abuse and sexual harassment. In collaboration with the project manager, he also implements initiatives aimed at reducing inequalities between men and women, in particular by helping young men and women to enter fields in which they are in minority and by encouraging them to pursue PhD studies.

First name change procedure

As part of a university policy which respects students’ rights not to be discriminated on the basis of gender identity, the University of Nîmes has a procedure for changing first names.

The Anti-Discrimination Officer, the Department of Studies and Student Life (DEVE) and the Department of Information Systems and Digital Use (DSIUN) are responsible for implementing this procedure, which enables transgender, non-binary and intersex students to use their customary first name in their university and student life.

To take this step, students should contact Anne-Lise Taibi, the Anti-Discrimination Officer, by requesting an appointment at the following address: referent.discrimination @ unimes.fr
